Depression Hurts More Than People Can See

You wake up exhausted, even if you’ve slept all night. The things you used to care about feel distant. And worst of all? You feel like nobody really gets how hard it is just to exist right now.
Behind closed doors, depression drains your energy, your hope, and your connection to the world around you. It's not just emotional—it’s physical, mental, and all-consuming.

There’s another way forward. And it starts with someone who truly gets it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Depression

1. What are the most common symptoms of Depression?

Typical symptoms include persistent sadness, low energy, loss of interest in activities, sleep problems, appetite changes, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness.

2. How do I know if what I’m feeling is Major Depressive Disorder?

Major Depressive Disorder involves symptoms that last at least two weeks and significantly impair daily life—such as deep sadness, low motivation, fatigue, and loss of pleasure. If your mood is disrupting your relationships, work, or functioning, therapy may help.

3. What is the difference between Depression and Dysthymia (Persistent Depressive Disorder)?

Dysthymia is a long-lasting form of depression with milder symptoms that persist for two years or more. People often describe it as “always feeling low” or “never feeling fully okay.”

4. Can Depression cause physical symptoms?

Yes. Depression can lead to headaches, body aches, digestive problems, changes in appetite or weight, and chronic fatigue. Physical symptoms are often just as real and distressing as emotional ones.

5. Why do I feel tired all the time even when I sleep enough?

Low energy, fatigue, and feeling “slowed down” are very common symptoms of Depression. These can occur even if you are sleeping regularly, and they often improve with therapy and appropriate treatment.

6. Is losing interest in things a sign of Depression?

Yes. Loss of interest or pleasure—called anhedonia—is one of the hallmark symptoms of Depression. If hobbies, relationships, or activities no longer feel enjoyable, therapy can help restore motivation and joy.

7. Why do I feel hopeless or worthless for no clear reason?

These thoughts are common symptoms of Depression and often have nothing to do with your actual abilities or worth. Therapy helps challenge these beliefs and strengthen healthier patterns of thinking.

8. When should I seek therapy for Depression symptoms?

If sadness, low motivation, fatigue, or loss of interest is affecting your relationships, work, or daily functioning—and lasting more than two weeks—it's time to reach out. Early support leads to faster healing and long-term relief.
